Children usually start cutting their first teeth around six months. It is recommended they see the dentist by their first birthday or within six months of their first tooth. If you suspect any problems or your child is uncomfortable, please book an appointment promptly. It is never too late for a child’s first visit.

Toddlers, children, and teens should visit the dentist as often as adults. We recommend a check up and cleaning every six months unless otherwise advised. If your child has tooth or jaw pain, frequently rubs or nurses their jaw, or avoids hard or cold foods, book an appointment sooner.

Cavities are holes in teeth that grow larger over time. They may or may not cause pain or sensitivity. It is important to repair cavities before they worsen or cause infection, even in baby teeth. Cavities result from bacteria and plaque and are worsened by sugary or acidic foods and drinks. Some people are more prone to cavities than others.
